MELTED MEN //// BASECK //// NOMEX //// DJ TRONC
Based in Athens Georgia U$A, Amsterdam, and Koln,MELTED MEN are a group known for strange music and an extremely visual stage show. Their songs are maniacal, undeniably funky jams cobbled together from handmade instruments, gamelan instruments, electronics, deranged vocals, and primitive hip hop beats. They channel a strong Afrikka Bambataa/Residents vibe, all chopped up in a plunderphonic orgy. At the most basic level, it is a swarm of samples, deviant electronic garage, and insane percussion, that is both infantile and savage. Their live shows are relentless, energetic theatrical performances that are not to be missed.
A PROPOS DE BASECK Derrick Estrada
Born August 14th, 1981 in Lancaster, California, Baseck started DJing when he saved up lunch money and sold Nintendo games to buy his first mixer and thrift store turntable at age 13 in 1994. He was soon introduced to scratching and turntable trickery and has been hooked ever since. Baseck has a style made up of breakcore, broken beats, droning atmospheres, and slaughtering noise to create a beautifully fucked collage of sound.
"Those works created from solitude and from pure and authentic creative impulses - where the worries of competition, acclaim and social promotion do not interfere - are, because of these very facts, more precious than the productions of professionals. After a certain familiarity with these flourishings of an exalted feverishness, lived so fully and so intensely by their authors, we cannot a void the feeling that in relation to these works, cultural art in its entirety appears to be the game of a futile society, a fallacious parade." Jean Dubuffet.
