A PROPOS D'HARRY MERRY (feat. THE MUST)

Harry Merry est né le 15 novembre 1971 aux Pays-Bas, à l'ouest de Rotterdam. Durant sa jeunesse le petit Harry était mal compris par ses camarades et ses professeurs parce qu'il était différent des autres.

Il aimait la musique et surtout celle de son époque : The Beatles ou The Dark Pink. Il aimait la littérature, surout celle de Dickens. Déçu du gouvernement de son pays il va ensuite créer des chansons à propos de ses mœurs et les habitudes de sa vie quotidienne.

Harry Merry est un one-man-band, c'est à dire qu'il compose et joue en concert seul. Ses morceaux sont souvent composés avec un synthétizer, une batterie, une basse électrique et le chant.Harry Merry utilise parfois l'harmonica comme dans la chanson "Stevie Storm". Sa voix est assez particulière, il chante en Anglais et en plus de son accent néerlandais, ses modulations aigues et grave se révèlent parfois étranges comme dans les titres "Village Life in 1905" et "Sharki Super Machine". Il classerai sa musique au rayon "rock'n roll", mais beaucoup la classent dans "expérimental", "avant-garde".

Il s'est inspiré de l'opéra-rock "Bohemian Rhapsody" pour composer sa chanson "Betta Elizabetta", une expérience qui l'a assez inspiré pour créer sont propre opéra. Voilà son ambitieux defi musical qu'il devrait réaliser avant ses 40 ans.

A PROPOS DE TRIKE

Trike is a pop band. however, not in any traditional sense of the word, a more specific classification might be electro-pop-folk with an experimental edge. trike is a collective project, spearheaded by stephen taylor that has taken on many forms over the last few years. many of the songs are written by taylor, but other songs feature various other contributors, which add to trike's unpredictable sound; from the sleepy, dylanesque song stylings of wes g knight to the poetry of katrin bowen. many of the current electronic drum programming is thanks to dutch electronics wizard, alex van de meer who continues to play in trike, although via the internet.

Trike was born a few years ago in montreal under the name zipperhead. trike has played in montreal, vancouver, berlin and various cities in holland. stephen taylor was also part of the dutch/ canadian electro-pop duo, short cut.

Their influences are: Pulp, The Cure, Talking Heads, Devo, The Cars, Belle and Sebastian, old Public Enemy, Magnetic Fields and Joy Division.

There is a lot of humour in the music, and the songs are pretty bouncy/happy, although there are also a lot of bittersweet emotions in the lyrics.
