Comment decrire lavigna: lavigna est un personnage de dessin animé
(princesse sarah) une fille de treize ans pleine de rancoeur et de jalousie
qui fait du mal à tous ceux par qui elle pense etre surpassée...
musicalement pour moi c'est de la chanson française aggressive
mais les influences sont larges: le hardcore le punk le flamenco les
musiques japonaises et coréenne la pop, jim o'rourke ou le grind
d'agoraphobic nosebleed sont autant d'influences et d'artistes qui servent
de reference pour redessiner le caractere mauvais mais subtil de
lavigna... tout ça pour parler de fillettes depressives possessives haineuse
et manipulatrice.
Moi, sur scene je m'habille en princesss et mon cousin en voile musulman
qui cache le visage.

Collectif noise/avantrock expérimental, basé à Berlin,
Monno, c'est une basse et une batterie puissantes et
corrosives se mélangeant aux sonorités denses et
abstraites d'un sax gorgé d'électricité et d'un ordinateur
dégénéré.
Des grooves massifs répétés à l'infini sur lesquels se
déploient les décharges digitales du laptop et des riffs
improbables joués par un saxophone corrodé, passés à
travers des amplis de guitare et une surdose de
distorsion. feedback, explosion noise, énergie brut...on
pourrait penser à une mutation entre borbetomagus, swans
et wolf eyes...

Monno (Berlin, Germany)
BIOGRAPHY
Dense, abstract, challenging, and confrontational. Monno
stands out from the legacy of doomsayers that includes
Throbbing Gristle, Suicide, Whitehouse, and more recently
Wolf Eyes and Lightning Bolt.

Monno are impressively, expertly abrasive in sending
atomic blasts of fury, but beneath the shock value of
these overwhelming sonic miasmas are throat-grappling
melodies evoking a massive ,brutal trance.

In their rather short existence Monno has toured with Isis
/ Jesu and Lightning Bolt.
They shared stages with contemporaries Melt Banana, Martin
Rev, Marduk, Mauro Pawlowski, Ultralyd,...

Monno was formed in 1999 in Lausanne where the 4 original
members met in the
experimental music scene.
After working together in different projects and recording
a demo tape, they started to play live as a quartet.

The music in that time was a mix of heavy rock, free jazz
& electronic textures.
Played their first concert as Monno in 2002 in Berlin, the
city they relocated to.

In 2003 Subdeviant Recordings (a subdivision of Conspiracy
Records) picked them up and released their debut CD
Candlelight Technology.
Joined by Canadian bass player Derek Shirley, Monno left
on tour for the first time, shattering audiences and
sharing stages with Melt Banana and Suicide's Martin Rev.
In 2004, they were invited by LIGHTNING BOLT to join them
on tour throughout Europe.

Monno starts to write new material for ERROR and brings it
on tour with ISIS and JESU, resulting in a live recording
of a memorable concert in Ljubljana - fists in the air -
The shear inertia of these songs made most self-styled
hardcore kids recoil in terror, but the energy coming of
that stage warned us Error was not gonna go unnoticed.

ERROR marks a change towards a heavier sound in MONNO's
music: The sax is now played through two guitar amps and
fires heavy riffs which doesn't sound like saxophone any
more. The laptop provides dense walls of noise, the vocals
go over the top while bass and drums keep massive grooves.
Their music is dark & heavy and in constant mutation, like
a reflection of the times we live in.
MONNO's ERROR is a drastic record for drastic times.

MONNO played festivals and shows in Germany, Denmark,
Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria,
Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Slovenia and
Croatia.
They played various contemporary experimental music
festivals in Europe , including the Exiles Festival
(Berlin - D), Noisescape (Den Haag - NL), Morbide Festival
(Bischopswerda - D), Sensxperiment Festival (Lucena - ES),
De Donderdagen / Singel (Antwerpen - B), LEM Festival
(Barcelona - ES), Underground film festival, LUFF
(Lausanne - CH) ,...
